The Inspiration for The Caterpillar came from Makenzie Lanai Kelly, the youngest daughter of author Jonathan Kelly.
“My wife, Christal, and I were expecting our third daughter to be born some time within the last week of September, 2007—the Lord had a different plan for us and our baby.
On June 9, 2007 my wife’s water broke, only twenty-four weeks into the pregnancy, and Makenzie began to fight for her life.
I immediately looked to God to guide me. I prayed and I prayed, and I told everyone that would listen to pray and pray. I asked God to answer our prayers—and he did.
However, the answers that I asked for, and received, were part of a larger picture. The Lord wanted to use Makenzie before she was even born.
God told me to take these answers and to write a book. He told me to write The Caterpillar. God began to give me to vision for the book immediately on 06-09-07. The vision was complete on the birthdate of Makenzie, 07-07-07. GLORY be to GOD.”
